Explore the game-changing collaboration between noco-noco and Greenfuel, driving the future of green and sustainable electric mobility.
New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move aimed at transforming India's clean electric mobility landscape, noco-noco Pte Ltd (noco-noco) and Greenfuel Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This strategic partnership is set to deliver batteries with enhanced efficiency, performance, and longevity, promising a significant impact on the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) sector.
At the core of this collaboration is noco-noco's X-SEPA separator technology. This innovation has the capability to extend the lifespan of conventional lithium-ion batteries by an impressive fivefold when coupled with a proprietary electrolyte, as highlighted in a release by Greenfuel.
Greenfuel, with its 17-year legacy in the Indian market, stands out as a leading provider of clean mobility and energy storage solutions. Having supplied over a hundred thousand batteries powering EVs covering more than 80 million km on Indian roads, Greenfuel brings a wealth of experience and reliability to the partnership.
Under the terms of the MOU, noco-noco will supply Greenfuel with cells embedded with the X-SEPATM technology. Greenfuel, in turn, will take charge of manufacturing battery packs with these advanced cells. The collaboration extends beyond manufacturing, with Greenfuel spearheading marketing and sales activities in India and Africa.
Phased Unveiling of Collaboration
The collaboration is set to unfold in multiple phases. The final manufacturing capacity, to be determined by noco-noco, will involve the supply of 3MWh of cells on a quarterly basis. This amount represents a third of noco-noco's planned in-house 35MWh production capacity, expected to launch in 2024 with the acquisition of noco-tech, the R&D company pioneering the X-SEPA.
With India's lithium-ion battery market projected to reach USD 25,309.59 million by 2031, the collaboration comes at a crucial time. The Indian government's ambitious target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030 underscores the need for advanced energy storage solutions.
The collaboration between noco-noco and Greenfuel is well-positioned to contribute significantly to addressing these needs.
Noco-noco's X-SEPA technology is poised to revolutionise the Indian EV market, particularly for two and three-wheelers. With capabilities to withstand 3000 cycles at 600C while maintaining performance at OOC, this technology presents a game-changing solution for electric tricycle rickshaws, a popular mode of public transport.
Masataka Matsumura, CEO of noco-noco, expresses strategic positioning in India's battery solutions space. Akshay Kashyap, MD and founder of Greenfuel, emphasises the commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for electric mobility. Ashok Choudhary, President of the Gas Fuel and Battery Division at Greenfuel, and Mari Matsushita, Chief Product Officer of noco-noco, both share their enthusiasm for a greener, more sustainable era in India's EV market.
In a country with diverse temperature ranges, noco-noco's innovative technology promises not only extended battery life but also enhanced reliability and scalability for e-mobility vehicles. The collaboration between noco-noco and Greenfuel stands as a testament to the shared commitment to driving technological innovation and ushering in a cleaner and more sustainable future.
